2 hot dog sausages

4 slices of bread (your choice: white, whole grain, or sourdough)

1/2 cup pizza sauce

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/4 cup sliced pepperoni (optional)

1/4 cup chopped bell peppers (red and green)

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon butter (for toasting)

Preheat the Pan: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.

    Prepare the Hot Dogs: While the skillet is warming, slice the hot dog sausages lengthwise but not all the way through, so they can lay flat.

      Cook the Hot Dogs: Place the hot dog halves in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until heated through and slightly browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

        Assemble the Sandwich: Lay two slices of bread on a clean surface. Spread a generous spoonful of pizza sauce on each slice.

          Layer the Ingredients: On one slice, place the cooked hot dog halves, then sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese over the hot dogs. Add chopped bell peppers and sliced pepperoni, if using. Sprinkle with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cover with the remaining mozzarella cheese.

            Close the Sandwich: Top with the second slice of bread, sauce side down, to form a sandwich.

              Toast the Sandwich: In the same skillet, melt the butter and place the sandwich in the pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Carefully flip with a spatula and toast the other side for another 3-4 minutes until it’s crispy and cheese is melted.

                Slice and Serve: Once cooked, remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it cool for a minute. Slice into halves or quarters for easier eating.
